🦊Paris Like a Local: Because Paris Is Meant to Be Lived, Not Just Visited.

Forget the clichés. Discover Paris beyond the postcards.

Let’s get one thing straight: Paris isn’t necessarily the picture-perfect fantasy of Emily in Paris, nor is it quite the romantic movie set Woody Allen would have you believe.

And no, we don’t all wander around wearing berets, carrying baguettes under our arms, with a particularly smelly Camembert tucked into our handbags.

Although, admittedly, we do love our cheese.

Paris is so much more than its clichés. And, most importantly, Paris isn’t a city you should rush through. It’s a city you should experience. Savour. Get a little lost in. Fall in love with, at your own pace.

Of course, there are the must-sees. And they’re called must-sees for a reason.

The Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, the Sacré-Cœur, the Louvre, the Conciergerie, Saint-Germain-des-Prés… and, if time allows, the magnificent Palace of Versailles. They all deserve a place on your Paris bucket list.

But here’s the thing: the real magic of Paris often happens in between those famous landmarks.

It’s wandering down a beautiful little street without knowing exactly where it leads.

It’s sitting at a café terrace, ordering a coffee and watching the world go by, without feeling the slightest need to check the time.

It’s stepping into an old bookshop and breathing in that wonderful smell of books, paper and history.

It’s listening to Parisians chatting away in that beautiful, impossibly fast language you spent years trying to learn.

It’s the small victory of finally figuring out the Métro without getting hopelessly lost.

It’s discovering a fantastic little neighbourhood bistro and enjoying a delicious, perfectly toasted croque-monsieur that wasn’t designed, priced or Instagrammed specifically for tourists.

It’s finding yourself somewhere unexpected and thinking: Now THIS is the Paris I came to see.

A Little Local Knowledge Goes a Long Way

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve stopped to help tourists looking completely bewildered on the streets of Paris.

Trying to figure out which direction to take, where to eat, what to visit, or simply how to get from A to B without spending half their day underground.

And I’m always amused by how persistent some Parisian stereotypes remain.

I’m also genuinely sorry when I see visitors falling into the usual tourist traps, paying far too much for a mediocre meal, or missing out on wonderful experiences simply because they didn’t know where to look.

Now, don’t get me wrong.

Between Google, AI-powered travel planners, social media and the thousands of travel influencers sharing their favourite spots, we’ve never had so much information at our fingertips.

But sometimes, what makes all the difference isn’t more information. It’s the right information, from the right person, at the right moment.

A little insider tip. A thoughtful recommendation. A shortcut that saves you an hour. A restaurant you would never have discovered on your own. Or simply someone who understands what you’re looking for and helps you make the most of your time.

I’ve experienced this myself while travelling abroad. There have been so many occasions when I wished I’d had a friendly local to point me in the right direction, help me avoid unnecessary mistakes, and make a good trip even better.

Not someone to organise every minute of my stay.

Just someone to give me that little extra insight that can turn an ordinary travel experience into a truly memorable one.

And That’s Why I’m Launching Paris Like a Local, by A Fox in Paris.

The idea is simple.

To help visitors discover and experience Paris in a more personal, authentic and enjoyable way.

Whether you’re coming to Paris for the very first time, returning for your fifth visit, spending a romantic weekend, travelling with your family, or simply wanting to explore beyond the obvious, I’d love to help you find your own version of Paris.

The Paris that suits your interests, your pace, your curiosity and your idea of a wonderful trip.

Because there’s no single right way to experience this city.

And because sometimes, the best memories aren’t the ones you planned.

They’re the ones you stumbled upon.

So, What’s Next?

Well, this is all very new!

My head is currently buzzing with ideas, recommendations, favourite addresses, hidden gems, potential itineraries and a thousand little things I’d love to share.

Now comes the exciting part: putting it all together and turning those ideas into something useful, personal and, hopefully, a little different.

I’ll be sharing more about Paris Like a Local as it takes shape.

In the meantime, consider this an open invitation to discover Paris beyond the clichés, beyond the tourist traps and beyond the endless lists of things you’re supposed to see.

Because the best way to discover Paris isn’t simply to visit it. It’s to live it.

And sometimes, all you need is a little help from a local fox.

Welcome to Paris Like a Local, by A Fox in Paris.

À très bientôt à Paris! 🦊
